The jbject to study the dynamics of the activity of enzymes that function in the gut of two species of fish: bream Abramis brama (L.) and roach Rutilus rutilus (L.), living in the Rybinsk reservoir, over 40 years of observation. Sample size was 37 fishes of each group. Total proteolytic and amylolytic activity, and the activity of sucrase have been increasing during the 1990-2012 years compared with the previous period of 1979-1990 years; alkaline phosphatase activity was decreased. In general, over the past 40 years it was indicated a steady increase in the activity of most digestive enzymes in the intestinal mucosa of bream and roach. Identified trends are probably due to a decrease in the load on the feed reserve of the fishes, especially in the number and biomass of benthos. The greater values of the activity of sucrase and the most enzymes in the intestinal mucosa of roach during 2000-2012 years, compared with that of bream, are associated apparently with a higher feed content of carbohydrate-rich macrophytes, and that of and proteinase activity are associated with increased role of shellfish species in the feeding this fish species.
