ABSTRACT. The influence of pH on the activity of proteinases functioning in the body of fish – potential prey of fish-ichthiophagous (rudd Scardinius erythropthalmus, roach Rutilus rutilus heckeli, ruff Acerina cernua, goby Neogobius fluviatilis) as well as associated microflora from Cuciurgan reservoir was investigated. It is shown that the level of activity of proteinases in tissue homogenates of fish and associated microbiota largelydepends on the pH. Maximum activity of proteinases of the whole organism in a ruff and goby is at pH 8, in rudd and roach it is at pH 10. The maximum values of proteinases of various species of associated microbiota varywithin a wide pH range (6-10). Proteinase of the tissues in fish-benthophagous and their associated microbiota can function effectively in acidic pH zone.
