ABSTRACT. Three trials were performed on pregnant and nursing Large White sows pigs and on suckled piglets; sows of treatment groups were fed basic diet with supplement of vitamin C at the dose 0.1 g/kg feed beginning from week before farrowing and in the course of suckling (trial I, 4 groups, n= 30), during suckling at the dose 0.2 g/kg (trial II, two groups, n= 20), from second period of pregnancy up to farrowing and suckling piglets at the dose 0.1 g/kg, and sows during nursing at the dose 0.2 g/kg (trial III, n=60). Serum concentration of vitamines A, E, C in sows and piglets, so as their total content in the liver of piglets tended to increase in treatment groups. The addition of vitamin C to diet of sows from second half of pregnancy up to end of piglet weaning so as to suckled piglets at the dose 0.1-0.2 g/kg caused the increase in reared piglets weight per sow by 6.9% (P<0.05), in weaning piglet’s live weight by 8.9% (P<0.05) and in their viability (trial I, 97% vs 91% in control group).
