ABSTRACT. The most important prerequisite for the transition to a new technological order is development of information and cognitive technologies. The scientific basis of modern zoobiological technologies in leading countries are developed in the world on the basis of bioinformatics, computational and experimental biology, and on a new science − systems biology which has a direct access to the area of control. From this point of view, there are considered the state and prospects of research in the field of animal nutrition and performance, quantitative modelling of animal growth, optimizing the raising of animals for meat, viability and longevity of high-producing animals, breeding and selection. With the aim to eliminate the lagging behind the leading countries in these areas, it is proposed to modernize the management of research and development based on a set of measures: 1) the transition from administrative to the design principle of research management with differentiation of two steps: a) pre-project working-out including the creation of theories, concepts, model versions and forecasts, and b) ensuring the implementation of them in practice; 2) organization of effective interaction between the academic and corporative sciences in the form of clusters: University − Academy of Sciences − Corporation; 3) the creation of centers of strategic planning to analyze the points of growth, research trends, to develop and implement procedures for expert and financial support of main systems projects; 4) the organization of high-grade zootechnical, physiological, biochemical, breeding and molecular biology laboratories in national research centers, as well as coordination of such works in the country with the formation of databases and computerized technologies on the main systems projects.
