ABSTRACT. The trial was performed on three groups of broiler-chickens of cross IZA, fed from 8 to 28 days a complete feed without supplements (group I, control), complete feed with supplement of sunflower oil in an amount of 1.5% by feed weight (group II) or with palm fat "Bevi Spray" in the same percentage amount (up to 95% of saturated fatty acids plus 2% of linoleic acid, 37.9 MJ ME/kg) (group III). The live weight of chickens at the end of the trial in the groups I, II and III groups was 1918±20, 1997±32 (P=0.04) and 2013±13 g (P<0.01) respectively. Feeding fat supplements did not exert any significant influence upon digestibility of main nutrient substances of feed. In groups II and III, there was indicated the decrease in the number of colonies of enterococci and staphylococci in the colon; the number of lactobacilli in all groups was within the range of 1.0-5.0 × 106CFU/g. In groups II and III, there was indicated the decrease in visceral fat and the increase in the content of fat in red muscles by 3.9 и 3.6% (P<0.01) respectively vs control. The data obtained suggest that the dry palm oil can be used as an alternative energy source in feeds for poultry.
