ABSTRACT. The experiment was performed on two groups of Yaroslavl cows at 7 mo of lactation, 15 cows each fed basic ration. Сows of treatment group were given chlorella suspension during 2 mo in an amount of 155 ml per 1 kg of dry matter of the diet (6 g of chlorella dry matter per cow in a day), and the "after effect" was taken into account in the next 30 days. In all cows, the clinical variables (temperature, pulse, respiration, chewing movements and the number of rumen contractions), milk production, the morphological and biochemical parameters of the blood were recorded. In treatment group in the first two months of experiment, there were noted the increase in frequency of rumen (P<0.05), strengthening of the hematopoietic function, some changes in leukocyte counts and in parameters of protein and mineral metabolism. Feeding chlorella suspension led to an increase in the average daily 4% fat milk yield by 20% (P<0.05), in protein content by 10% (P<0.05) vs control. The values of hematological parameters and indices of protein and mineral metabolism during the following 30 days in treatment group were higher vs control. Excess above the control group by average milk yield in treatment group remained at about 26% (P<0.05), that of protein content by 11% (P<0.05), the number of somatic cells was less than 29% (P<0.05) as compared with control. Concluded that chlorella suspension can be used as a feed additive for dairy cows every 60 days of lactation with a break of 30 days in order to stimulate metabolism and milk production.
