ABSTRACT. The trial was performed on two groups of 3-mo Yaroslavl heifers, 15 calves each, fed basic ration, experimental group fed supplement of chlorella suspension during 120 d at the dose of 155 ml per 1 kg of ration dry matter per day (during 1, 2, 3, 4 mo − 1.51; 1.82; 2.01, 2.28 g chlorella DM per day) and the aftereffect was considered during following 30 d. Body temperature, pulse, breathing, frequency of rumen contractions, morphological and biochemical blood composition and mean gains were daily registered. In test group within four months of the trial, an increase was indicated in rumen contraction frequency (P<0.05), catalase activity (P<0.05), hematopoietic function, leukocytes number, in some parameters of protein and mineral metabolism. The mean daily LW gain was higher by 15% (P<0.05) vs control group. During following 30 days, the frequency of rumen contractions, hematologic parameters, parameters of protein and mineral metabolism in test group were elevated vs control, the mean daily gain was 13% higher than in the control during this time interval. Concluded that chlorella suspension may be fed to dairy heifers, starting from 3 mo of life during the period of 120 days with 30 day breaks, in order to stimulate metabolic processes and increase mean daily gains.
