ABSTRACT. One of the preconditions of the safe using of the antibacterial drugs based on colloidal silver is the low accumulation level of the drug components in animal tissues, which in turn ensures compliance with sanitary requirements to manufactured food products. As an antibacterial drug, the authors used an aqueous colloidal solution of silver nanoparticles stabilized with miramistinum (benzyldimethyl [3-(myristoylamino) propyl] ammonium chloride) contained 10 µg Ag/ml and 100 µg myramistinum/ml. Aimed to estimate the level of silver accumulation in tissues and organs of the bird, 75 one-day broiler-chickens were ascribed to 3 groups, 25 chickens each. In treatment groups, the drug was applicated during the growing period (45 days) orally with drinking water or by aerosol treatment. Oral daily administration of the drug in therapeutically effective dose and in 6 fold excess of therapeutic dose caused at the end of the growing period an accumulation of less than 8 and 90 µg Ag/kg in the organs respectively. Aerosol administration of the drug at silver concentrations in the air of 50 and 300 µg/m3leads to the accumulation of less than 25 µg Ag/kg of silver in the organs. So, the administration of the drug based on colloidal silver in an amount of up to six fold excess of therapeutic dose does not cause accumulation of silver in the tissues and organs of broiler-chickens in a concentration dangerous for human.
